About Patoka Lake:

With 26,000 acres of land and water, Patoka Lake is a fine example of lake ecology.
An 8,800-acre lake provides habitat for freshwater jellyfish and bald eagle nesting sites.
River otters and osprey were reintroduced at Patoka by the DNR.
The property is home to one of only two resident, non-releasable bald eagles at a DNR state park or reservoir.
The eagle was acquired in 2013.
An earlier eagle called C52 lived at Patoka Lake from 1988 until he died in 2009.

The property s Interpretive Services staff presents programs and special events featuring the reconstructed Moery Cabin, a non-releasable red-tailed hawk, bald eagle, Eastern screech owl and other natural and cultural history features of the area.
Programs on kayaking, Dutch oven cooking and other outdoor skills are also offered.
The lake is located just south of the historic towns of French Lick and West Baden, and just east of historic Jasper.

Salary Information:

This position starts at a minimum rate of $9.
15 per hour; however, pay may be commensurate with experience and the starting rate may vary for the position for which you apply.

About the Job:

As the Seasonal Resource Management Technician, you will perform duties related to the survey, biological monitoring, and/or control of property natural resources.
This role will also assist in the maintenance of property facilities and equipment.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • General Resource Management Technicians assist with the control of invasive plant species natural area restoration trail maintenance, brush and tree removal, signage, timber marking and/or timber stand improvement based on the property.

What We're Looking For:

  • Candidates shall have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) or one (1) year of work experience.
  • A valid driver s license is required.
  • Completion of some college coursework in wildlife management, natural resources, biology, ecology, forestry and/or related areas of study is required for some roles.
  • This role may be required to work afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Individual may be required to wear a DNR provided uniform.
  • May be required to travel to additional properties.
  • May be required to work around potentially dangerous heavy equipment (e.
    g.
    tractors, disks, mowers, planters, etc.
    ).

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Ability to understand and apply through on the job training and using previous, relevant experience basic biological principals, ecological variables and interactions, plant identification, herbicide application, invasive plant management techniques (of conservation biology, the management of forests, wetlands, and prairie habitats), and life histories of invasive plants.
  • Basic knowledge of scientific methods, procedures and theories applicable to the management of invasive plant populations
  • Ability to lift equipment, tools, or materials up to 50lbs
  • Ability to sustain periods of strenuous physical activity
  • Ability to carry out assignments with general instruction and limited supervision.
  • Individuals may experience working in potentially inclement weather.
  • Individuals may experience working directly with offenders.
  • May perform duties in a variety of different environments, including an office environment, field environment, rugged terrain, and various adverse weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, etc.
    ).

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
